Mapjack adds Lake Tahoe and Yosemite

June 26th, 2008

I featured Mapjack back in March, and wanted to provide a brief update.  They recently added the Lake Tahoe area and Yosemite National Park area.  They have great photos as if driving through San Francisco and Sausalito also.  The picture quality is very high - check it out!  Mapjack.com

New developments are going high tech in San Francisco

April 14th, 2008

A Business Wire article recently highlighted some of the high tech features that are part of the package at One Rincon Hill.  According to the story:

MST now offers Quad-Play and NuConcierge solutions to residents of One Rincon Hill, currently the tallest residential building west of the Mississippi River. As part of the agreement with Urban West Associates, residents and building management at One Rincon Hill now have access to a comprehensive suite of leading-edge digital services including digital satellite TV programming, Voice-over Internet Protocol telephone (VoIP), high-speed Internet access, and Wi-Fi services. NuVisions Broadband high-speed internet service will be delivered to residents either through cable modem or via every electrical outlet in each apartment, using the patented Telkonet iWire System via Powerline Communications (PLC)

“We are excited to launch at our first property in California, a receptive market for the cutting edge communications services we offer, said Frank Matarazzo, CEO of MST Inc. This property, with its sophisticated residents, offers the ideal venue for our launch into this new market. We believe that our quad-play offering, together with the NuConcierge solution, will afford Urban West Associates a competitive advantage in marketing this premier multi-tenant property.

“One Rincon Hill has worked diligently to deliver a unique mix of high-end services for our owners, commented Mike Kriozere, managing partner of Urban West Associates. We believe that these cutting-edge amenities are a perfect complement to one of San Francisco’s newest luxury properties.

Sounds cool to me.  If you’ve had a chance to use their system, feedback and comments are always welcome!

The best mapping site in San Francisco

March 28th, 2008

A while back, I featured the Google street view mapping technology.  I have included this application in several of the project pages as a way to view the project and the surrounding neighborhood.  A new mapping company, MapJack, has created what is known as seamless interactive panoramas.  Crystal clear photos that are easy to view, zoom, and search.  They are only in 3 cities so far, San Francisco, Sausalito, and Chiang Mai, Thailand, but 6 more are coming soon including Palo Alto, San Jose, and Lake Tahoe.

According to the MapJack website, “Mapjack.com showcases a new level of mapping technology. What others have done with NASA budgets and Star Wars-like equipment, we’ve done on a shoestring budget, along with a few trips to Radio Shack. Specifically, we developed an array of proprietary electronics, hardware and software tools that enable us to capture an entire city’s streets with relative ease and excellent image quality. We have a complete low-cost scalable system encompassing the entire work-flow process needed for Immersive Street-Side Imagery, from picture gathering to post-processing to assembling on a Website.”

For those who are not familiar with the city, perhaps visiting from a far away place, both Mapjack and Google street view are great tools to see the city.  And if you have a favorite mapping site that is new to the scene, I invite you to make a comment and share the news.
